Slidin’ Back Into Town

ROY ROGERS RETURNS WITH DELTA RHYTHM KINGS
By Christian Kallen, The Healdsburg Tribune

Roy Rogers

A little-known country song of recent years begins with the words: “I shook the hand of the man who shook hands with the king.” It’s about being close enough to greatness to touch it—at least secondhand.

Roy Rogers has touched the hand of so many musical legends across several disciplines over his 73 years that some of it was bound to rub off. He’ll demonstrate a few of those licks, riffs, and beats during his Saturday night show at the Raven, accompanied by the Delta Rhythm Kings…

Young at Heart’s Broadway Bootcamp starts December 9!

Broadway Bootcamp starts December 9, image

Young at Heart Theatre presents Broadway Bootcamp, a training program that explores acting, voice, and dance. This three-month intensive will culminate in a Broadway review show at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg where the kids can show off all they learned! We will work on songs, scenes, and dance numbers from Broadway Musicals like SIX, Hamilton, Chicago, Cabaret, Les Miserables, and more!

Broadway Bootcamp is for all ages; however, the younger actors will stay for the first hour from 10-11:00 am and the older actors will stay until 12:30 pm. We want to give all of the students the ability to grow and learn at their skill level. There will be two performances: Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd at 7pm; dress rehearsals are earlier that week. This “boot camp” will aim to refine skills and technique—students will leave feeling more confident in all three areas of performance.

Welcome to the Raven Performing Arts Theater’s new website, designed and created by Dennis Whitaker. We’ll be making adjustments over the next few weeks to make sure the site is both functional and beautiful; please email us at info@raventheater.org if you have any suggestions!

We’d like to give a huge shout-out to Michel and Susan Degive for the many hours of volunteer work they spent creating the Raven’s “legacy” website. Susan designed the site and Michel created the custom code that enabled us to launch a website many years ago. We are most appreciative of their enthusiasm and work for bringing the Raven into the internet age!

Check this page weekly for updates on what’s happening at the Raven and the many events around Sonoma County!
