The Press Democrat: ‘Who Will Dance with Pancho Villa?’ returns to Healdsburg with timely story of identity and belonging

In January, not long after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents carried out immigration raids in Minneapolis, the Raven Players in Healdsburg opened an original play with a timely title: “Who Will Dance with Pancho Villa?” Every performance but one during its two-weekend run sold out.

The play was not written in response to President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, and they are never mentioned onstage. Written by brothers John Fraire, who lives in Indiana, and Gabriel Fraire of Healdsburg, the work premiered off-Broadway in 1994.
