Mickey Mouse, Jack Sparrow, Mary Poppins, Ariel, Aladdin, Simba and many more beloved characters will take over The Raven Performing Arts Theater Sunday, March 2 when the Healdsburg Community Band presents “Disney at the Movies.” Downbeat is 5:00 PM and admission is free (like all HCB performances). Donations are gratefully accepted.

Matthew Wallace conducts the 40-piece ensemble through a program of favorite Disney animated and live action feature films we all grew up with, from 1940 through recent years. Selections include “Highlights from FROZEN,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Jungle Book,” “Mary Poppins,” “The Little Mermaid, “The Lion King,” and others.

“This promises to be a special performance,” said band president David Brandt. “Most of us are still kids at heart, and these tunes are bringing out the best from our hometown musicians.”

About Healdsburg Community Band: Local residents are encouraged to join the all-volunteer Healdsburg Community Band, even if they haven’t played their instrument for many years. There are no auditions. The only requirement is the basic ability to read music. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings, 7:30 PM at the high school band room.

The non-profit band also accepts tax-deductible donations to pay for overhead such as venue rental, insurance, truck rental, etc. www.healdsburgcommunityband.org.
