Healdsburg Dance Collective presents its fourth annual show MOSAIC: A Fundraiser for Dance Education on March 7th from 6:00-7:30pm. A special VIP Pre-Show Wine & Cheese Mingle at Bloodroot Winery Tasting Room across from the theater from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. is also available with reserved premium seating for VIPs ($100).
HDC’s Mosaic is a wonderful fundraiser featuring live dance performances by UPside Dance Company, HDC Youth Dancers with Young at Heart Theatre, as well as dance films from San Francisco Dance Film Festival. An afterparty onstage with DJ Glitterfox is open to all ticketholders.
UPside Dance Company will present two brand new pieces. Kickturn (premiere) is a boisterous, witty exploration of the beauty, skill and occasional chaos of both skateboarding and tango. The second piece from UPside is Exoformata, originally performed at the SRJC Winter Showcase in December of 2025. The work is highly physical, showing the strength and flexibility of the dancers as they explore fierce and primal movement.
UPside Dance Company Artistic Director Tanya Knippelmeir says, “I’m grateful to have the opportunity to let my creativity run wild with these inspirations and see where it takes the UPside dancers. Having a venue like The Raven to present locally crafted professional contemporary dance is a huge asset to this community. We want to be sure dance is well represented among Healdsburg’s many artistic offerings.”
Gianna Davy, HDC co-founder, teacher, and former member of Oakland Ballet ballet will choreograph and dance a solo.
Teen dancers from Healdsburg Dance Collective’s Youth Program will present two numbers choreographed by HDC co-founder Greta Schoenberg for Young At Heart Theater’s recent show, Fosse, directed by Katie Watts-Whitaker.
Each year HDC is lucky to be able to screen several short dance films courtesy of the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. This year we will be delighted by an epic Polynesian dance film shot in the stunning landscapes of Tahiti with native dancers, Aito Hine (French Polynesia), directed by Krysten Resnick. A saucy male duet brings back the fast footwork of the 70’s hustle in I Just Wanna Dance (SF, USA), directed by Amanda Beane, and a fast-paced animated dance short mesmerizes the viewer in Klanglicht, directed by Boris Seewald (Germany).
Healdsburg Dance Collective (HDC) is a local dance advocacy organization serving as a central hub for all things dance in our community. HDC produces performances featuring local professional dance companies and invited artists, and supports a thriving dance program for youth and adults, offering scholarships so everyone can participate. The collective has given over $11,000 in scholarships to local youth and developing professional dancers since its inception in 2023. Founded by four local dance professionals, this arts organization has gathered momentum quickly and looks forward to expanding community support through a partnership with its local fiscal sponsor in fundraising, Launch Pad Foundation.
