Healdsburg Dance Collective (HDC) presents its second annual dance celebration in a dynamic multi-disciplinary show, MOSAIC. This family friendly matinee event will blend dance, art, film and music for a truly entertaining afternoon.

Two Healdsburg-based artists have come together for an innovative collaboration. UPside Dance Company, in partnership with acclaimed visual artist Jake Messing, will debut a live multimedia dance piece titled “Visible Light”.  UPside Artistic Director & Choreographer Tanya Knippelmeir has created this unique piece, using Mr. Messing’s painting of the same name,  and projected his art onto the dancers. The work echoes the lush qualities of Jake’s painting with Upside’s mesmerizing movement style.

Quote from Ms. Knippelmeir:  “I have always dreamed of doing something like this, projecting artwork onto the dancers, and finally have the opportunity. I couldn’t have found a more inspirational artist than Jake Messing.  When we met and decided to collaborate together, the ideas were overflowing! It’s my hope that the projection on stage and on the dancers will make it seem as if his painting comes alive.”

Dance enthusiasts will also be treated to additional live dance performances by SRJC Company and a local Bachata duo, plus a selection of short films from the San Francisco Dance Film Festival. The afternoon will culminate in live music & dancing for all attendees with the popular Sonoma County band Mr. December.

Healdsburg Dance Collective was founded in 2023 by four local dance professionals. Its mission is to create a hub for dance in Healdsburg, amplifying local artistic voices, advocating for dance education and performance opportunities, and bringing the community together through dance. www.healdsburgdancecollective.org
