Renovation

When Healdsburg Performing Arts Theater purchased the Raven Theater, the facility had suffered from deferred maintenance. With the help of the City of Healdsburg, our first effort was replacing the roof.

Improved Performance Area

Through grants, we have improved the performance area by tripling the capacity of our lighting system, upgrading our sound system, and expanding the size of the stage. Late summer 07 we will remove the ceiling. This will make the structure safer seismically, reduce time required for lighting changes, and provide a dynamic new look for the Raven.

Our next challenge is to address our lack of dressing-room space. We are studying temporary options, including placing a modular building on our land next to the theater.

Raven Theater Planned Total Renovation

Most importantly, we have begun the process required for our planned total renovation.  We have already produced “vision” drawings that address the issues of the Raven’s need to upgrade ADA requirements, stage limitations, lack of backstage space, and need for increased lobby area.

After many interviews and site visits, we have selected an architectural firm to begin the process of in-depth study of the facility and user needs. The architect will give us choices on how to address our challenges and will, under our direction, produce drawings from which our working drawings will be generated.
